You’re not Bored You’re Boring!

When I was a kid….bored was NEVER something you said to my parents….they always had something for us to do if we even looked like we were going to utter the word! I’m sure that many of you can relate…My father died when I was a baby…(7months) and so his family not wanting to lose track of us….took my sister and I ALOT! We spent all of our summers and sometimes winter break with Daddy’s family. He had an Aunt…(Tressie) but we couldn’t say that when we were little….so she became KK. Aunt KK was single….she never married or had kids….so I guess in a way WE were her grandchildren. She was like many who have never had children…..she had all the answers….with nothing to back it up with…..but she LOVED us…and we knew it! She was a NO NONSENSE woman! When we told her that we were bored…..she would ALWAYS respond with “You’re not bored…..You’re boring!” That didn’t make too much sense till I got a little older…and then it made PERFECT sense….interesting people NEVER get bored. When I figured out what she meant….I decided right then and there…..I would NEVER EVER EVER be bored again!!! I never have.

My PASSION if gardening…..I live for it. In the winter I have to fight depression and anxiety constantly! So in order to keep what little bit of sanity I have….I craft…decorate…piddle….what ever I have to….to keep from being bored….or BORING!!!!

Today…..I crafted….and I decided to share what I did….

I went shopping with my dear friend Cheryl this week-end…and we looked at jewelry all day long….got me inspired……

Oh…the backdrop is curtsey of my precious friend Diane! She made me several….and I haven’t had a chance to photograph them until now! They’re perfect for this!

I also saw a belt buckle that got me thinking….I’ve been wanting a more decorative belt buckle and they are just ridiculous new…..so I made this…..pictures don’t do it Justus….so when the glue dries…..I’ll put it on Sara and photograph it again!

I miss SUMMER!!!!

Today I’ve been daydreaming of warmer days…..

I really can’t stand winter….and after the solstice all I can think about are the days getting warmer and longer….

Of course here….That means wind too….but right now…..I don’t even mind that! (don’t ask me how I feel in April!) lol

I’m thinking of grand kids and dogs playing in the water on the green grass!

I’m thinking of butterflies….

and yes….even caterpillars….

I’m thinking of spring blooms….and new flower beds….

I miss summer!

Bits and Pieces

I absolutely LOVE collections….of any kind and shape….however they can get out of hand.

A few years ago I decided to experiment with some of my collections….little momentos of different kinds…..I was remodeling a bathroom at the time and was planning on using a pretty expensive grout….epoxy grout and I wanted to have the mosaic done when I finished the tile….so I could take advantage of the extra grout.

I had never done what I would call a REAL mosaic before….so this was a shot in the dark for me….=\….I was on an “all white” kick, so that became the theme of this particular project. I gathered up all my white, cream, and off white “junk” and all silver stuff and began to glue…..I fell IN LOVE with this technique!

The requests began to pour in…..Everyone wants a freebee! Sara, my daughter’s request came next….actually I didn’t have to be asked for her….I offered. She too has a thing about collections and had quite a few things to add to hers…..however the picture I have of hers is not very good…and you really can’t tell what all she has on hers…..but it had pogs and pictures and glass trinkets. Hers….rather than a mirror like mine….she got a dry erase board.

I made this one to sell….but as of yet, I haven’t really found a home for my things for sale….so it is hanging on the wall in my guest bedroom. I stuck to the white theme….mostly because for mosaics…..it’s so soothing.

Last year Mom was redoing her bedroom in blue and yellow right around her birthday….so she got this to go with it.

And I did this one to hang in my kitchen!

I have made more….but of course…didn’t document….oh well…lesson learned…….MAYBE….I still forget my camera more than you can imagine! lol
