I have fallen IN LOVE with a new technique….and I want to share how to do it with Y’all!

 Patina-ed copper!

I did this by accident trying to get a frame to make me happy….and I just fell in LOVE.  Anyway take anything you want to look like this…in this case an outdated lamp.  I had to sand it a bit so that the paint would stick good to it……remember the rules of painting…..CLEAN….DULL…DRY!

Here’s a Picture of the supplies I used…I’ve been asked what brand of paint I like….I’m really not partial when it comes to spray paint….just buy the colors I like….brush on….that’s a whole different ball game! More on that later! The metallic paint is copper.  The other spray paint is just a brown….and then the waxes.

Sand….and then coat with the copper….remember….the copper needs to be good coverage….but nothing else has to be neat….in fact…the sloppier and more caked up….the more realistic I think it looks! I didn’t even worry about the copper being too solid on mine….because the metal was a color that I didn’t mind showing through here and there.

Now take your brown and just spritz lightly around here and there….I didn’t even wait for the copper to dry…actually I didn’t wait on any of the steps to dry…I like it to glob up…because that’s what it kinda does when it ages….don’t ask me why!?!!!

Then I started rubbing on the waxes….starting with the patina wax….the only thing I was careful about with it….was to get it in all the crevices…because that’s where it would patina the most naturally.

Then I started rubbing the high spots with the Spanish copper….and over the more straight up and down spots….because that would resist the patina the most.

Then I took the aged gold and just touched it here and there….just to give it another dimension! I hope Y’all like this as much as I do!!!!

This is what my hands look like AFTER washing them!!! lol Gotta love “Painters Hands!”

Love Y’all!!!!
